Golf in Vietnam is booming and The Dàlat at 1200 Golf Resort promises to be one of the outstanding ecotourism projects in Asia, offering a superb lifestyle in an almost perfect climate. The concept of The Dàlat is to keep the site as natural as possible, preserving the beautiful trees, some of the paddy fields and other water features. And at the same time, enhance it with more exotic flora and fauna and by using the many natural springs, waterfalls and smaller lakes.
Vietnam, the next Thailand
The Dàlat at 1200 Golf Resort is one of many of Vietnam new golf courses. Vietnam is one of the world’s up-and-coming golf destinations and was named as the 2012 “Undiscovered Golf Destination of the Year” by the International Association of Golf Travel Operators (IAGTO). Vietnam has a fascinating history, ancient culture, superb climate and now its offering fantastic championship golf courses. Vietnam is the ‘next Thailand’ when it comes to golf in Asia. Most of the Vietnamese golf courses favoured by the international golfers who have discovered Vietnam, are dotted along the central Vietnamese coastline – a region some optimistic marketing strategist dubbed the Vietnam Golf Coast. But it’s not the Golf Coast, yet. It’s a gem that still feels unpolished, but the potential is certainly there and The Dàlat is next in line.
Known locally as the land of eternal spring, Dà Lat has a delightfully cool and pleasant highland climate. An average temperature of 18-250C means residents of The Dàlat at 1200 can play golf, pursue outdoor activities and relax in comfort at any time of the year. With pleasantly cool summers and mild winters it’s easy to see why Dà Lat has always been a preferred hill station retreat, from the time of French colonialism through the era of the Vietnamese Imperial Dynasties to the modern Asian success story.
Bordered by three pine-forested valleys, the 2,100 acre lakeside estate has a micro-climate of its own, with refreshing breezes even at the height of summer.
One-with-nature golf experience
The 18 hole Championship Golf Course at The Dalat at 1200 Country Club & Private Estate is designed by Asian golfing legend Kyi Hla Han, a former Asian Tour ‘Order of Merit’ winner and rated as one of Asia’s best players. With his international experience and intimate knowledge of the regional game, Kyi Hla brings exceptional knowledge and expertise to delivery of a world-class golf and lifestyle experience.
With the setting providing dramatic topography and the climate enabling bent grass greens – rare for Asian courses – the course will be on par with US and European counterparts, making it ideal for both international training and an unparalleled local golf experience. As an accredited destination, The Dàlat at 1200 Country Club & Private Estate will become the first Asian Tour Destination to host an Asian Tour Tournament in 2016 with a US$ 1,000,000.00 prize money.
The golf course weaves around majestic century-old pine trees – only young trees were removed in the design process when absolutely necessary, planting 10 new trees for every one cut and utilising this wood for cladding and aesthetics. Local heron and egret sanctuaries were preserved during the course creation, truly integrating an at-one-with-nature golf experience.
“While we have drawn inspiration from our local landscape in designing The Dàlat at 1200 Country Club & Private Estate, we haven’t taken it for granted. We have considered sustainability in every process and sought to enhance the region’s offering with our initiatives, which will include solar energy grids and cultivation of our rich soil to supply organic on-site produce In addition, the rain water will be harvested into our various reservoirs, ponds and lake for irrigation purposes or, to be filtered as fresh water. We proudly celebrate our pure, natural and unique micro-environment and look forward to sharing it with golfers and guests next year,” comments Kay Hwa Tang, Executive Director of The Dàlat at 1200 Country Club & Private Estate.
The Dàlat at 1200 Golf Resort is developed in phases, the 18-hole golf course has been open for play since the second half of 2015 and the club house will be finished in mid 2016.
