Based on their rankings, Real Club Valderrama – with an average rating of 9,16 – has been voted Best Golf Club in Spain in 2018 in the Golfers’ Choice Rankings. Five in a row for Real Club Valderrama
Valderrama is not an easy course – nor was it intended to be. It is designed to call forth thought and precision for every shot. The course was designed in 1974 by Robert Trent Jones, Sr, one of the greatest golf course architects. Golfers praise the outstanding staff, the first class facilities and the demanding but beautiful golf course. They call playing at Valderrama an unforgettable experience. It’s already the fifth year in a row that Real Club Valderrama is rated as the Best Golf Club in Spain! What an achievement.
‘Once again, we have to thank all the golfers that have played our course and have voted for us to be number 1 in Spain for a fifth consecutive year‘, said General Manager Javier Reviriego. ‘We have invested on the golf course considerably the last five years and we will continue to do so. We pride ourselves in offering one of the best golf experiences in the World and I have to say our team is delighted with this recognition.’
Finca Cortesín Golf Club maintained their runner-up position in the ranking of Best Golf Club in Spain. The Casares based golf club recently was chosen as Best Golf Resort in Europe and does an excellent job according to the 9,09 rating Leadingcourses.com users give it. The highest new entry in the 2018 ranking is Real Golf de Pedreña in Cantrabia, which completes the top-3 with a rating of 8,96.
Valderrama also has the best golf course
When golfers only rate the course itself – so without looking at other elements, such as the appreciation for the clubhouse and practice facilities – golfers again choose Real Club Valderrama as their number 1. The fairways of Valderrama have been described by top professionals and leading golf writers as the best in Europe, if not the world. The Championship Course Valderrama receives a rating of 9,3. The number 2 in the ranking of Best Golf Course is the same as in the Best Golf Club ranking. Number 2 Finca Cortesín Golf Course is rated with a 9,2 and La Reserva Golf Course comes in third with a 9,0.
Golfers’ Choice rankings, most up to date and transparent
Every year numerous rankings circulate, announcing the best golf courses in a specific country. The Leadingcourses.com Golfers’ Choice rankings stand out because they are based on reviews written by actual golfers. These reviews can be consulted online at any time. This makes these rankings the most up-to-date, transparent and independent in the golf industry. When a golf club has gathered sufficient reviews they are eligible to qualify for the Golfers’ Choice Rankings. To make sure that ratings stay relevant, reviews are devalued over time. In 2018, Leadingcourses.com rankings have been published in 12 countries.
At the end of 2017 more than 350,000 reviews about golf courses (in nine different languages) were available on Leadingcourses.com. All reviews on Leadingcourses.com are verified and manually approved by a dedicated content team. Golfers who review multiple golf clubs receive a higher status and his or her review will therefore have more weight (and thus more impact) in the overall score of a club. To avoid any manipulation of the rating, various checks and balances are in place to track and signal questionable conduct by users.
Leadingcourses.com’s aim is to help golfers to play on the best golf courses available, based on their handicap, demands and location. For instance, golfers can quickly see how other players with a similar handicap value a certain club or course. Obviously they can also view the overall rating, based on all opinions. The site was founded in 2007 and has an active golf community. At the end of 2017 it had over 350,000 reviews, more than 20,800 golf clubs and 24,800 golf courses were mapped in more than 130 countries. As Leadingcourses.com values cultural differences, the site is available in nine different languages.
