Just back from an extended golf weekend in Marrakech. It turned out that the trip was a very good idea. In every respect value for money, very good golf courses, inexpensive hotels in the low season and the exotic, lively metropolis in addition for a cultural and evening program. Even though the weather was quite far away from the optimum of the season and the wind from the nearby Atlas was quite icy, we (handicaps 9 and 14) enjoyed it very much. We played Assoufid, Palmgolf Ourika, Samanah and Noria. All very good, I'm a little bit torn between putting Samanah or Ourika at the top of my personal ranking, with Assoufid close by and Noria not too far back. From the overall impression it is perhaps in a very close decision Samanah. Decisive for this are the slightly more settled, ingrown impression of the golf course and the clubhouse with the more pleasant bar for the beer afterwards (yep, it was so close that this kind of details was decisive for me...). The course is wonderful, a lot of risk reward, also varied, exciting and long holes in an absolute top condition (beginning of February with night frost!). We had the best views on the Atlas mountains from Samanah. Greens as faithful and super fast as in Ourika, even better than in Assoufid and Noria. Possibly the French Professional championship played in the morning is in part responsible for the top condition of the greens. Good driving range. Very friendly staff. We were less successful with the reservation of caddies we made beforehand. When we turned up, there weren't simply any, we were told that they would join us from hole 5 or 6 on. We renounced and had to take a cart. Nevertheless, it's a really enjoyable golfing experience, indispensable when you're in the area.
