Long wild grasses and reeds dominate the out of play areas together with the signature rice terraces, both distinctive features of this 7,330 yard championship course that integrates native forest, wetlands and an orchard valley, with views both over the ocean and across the entire island to the west.
99 East offers more than a challenging round of golf. The The first five holes alone take you to the highest point of the course, and from the tee box to the monster par 5 sixth hole, views extend across the entire island to Mat Cincang in the west and Kuah Bay in the east.
From there, you descend through the forest and rice terraces into the lower lying wetlands. The arrival back at the clubhouse returns you to an elevated vantage point with views over the course towards the ocean and the islands beyond, as well as forested mountains to the north.
The first 9 holes of the 99 East Golf Club are now open for play. The full 18 holes are scheduled to be completed by 2015.
Designed by Ross Watson, 99 East Golf Club offers a different golfing experience in Asia, taking many of its design references from Australian and even Scottish links courses.
