Priestman Course

Course in very good condition despite all the rain, some greens still fast, wet under foot but a great experience to play a top championship course.

The course was in absolute mint condition (immaculate). Views from the course were beautiful in fact it was so good one could have just sat and wondered at the whole set up. This did not make the course easy by any means it was difficult for an average player. Even a pro would be lucky to par same. An experience i shall always treasure.

I had the good fortune at 83 years to accompany three of my grown up grandsons to Slaley Hall golf club. We played both courses. Besides having the pleasure of my grandsons company I found the break excellent value for money both for golf and accommodation. Did not have one grumble and the Hunting course was out of this world. often felt like just sitting and admiring the view at times. the course was immaculate and in pristine condition. We were so impressed that my grandsons are already looking towards another booking.

Northumberland

As Northumberland borders the North Sea, you will find a lot of seaside and links courses here. So, when planning a golf break to Northumberland, make sure to play Goswick Golf Club, Close House Hotel & Golf Club, Northumberland Golf Club and De Vere Slaley Hall. As mentioned, the best course lie along the coast and just above Newcastle upon Tyne.  

If you want a break from golf, then discover romantically ruinous castles, visit abandoned beaches or the bunting-strewn market towns. A few places you must visit in Northumberland are Hadrian's Wall, the Holy Island and Alnwich Castle. 

Getting to Northumberland is fairly easy and can be reached through the air via Newcastle International Airport or Edinburgh or by ferry through Port of Tyne.

Having played there before of which I enjoyed the then. The courses are in good condition Both are good challenging course The staff in the club house are very pleasant and professional.

Slaley Hall is een mooie locatie in Nothumberland. Wij gebruikten deze baan als laatste stop voor de Ferry voor NewCastle. Het is een prima locatie en de Hunting baan is een prima course. Goed te spelen en heel goed aangelegd. Er zijn gemakkelijke maar ook minder eenvoudige holes. Het is een best lange course waar de driver redelijk wat werk moet verzetten. Ook hier is een birdieguide nodig want in de baan is er geen aanduiding van de hole. De baan kent hoogteverschillen en die maken het uitdagend. De greens zijn, volgens de aardige caddiemaster, normaal supersnel. Deze greens zijn dan ook vaak de oorzaak voor een mindere score want ze hebben best wel veel ondulaties. Ligt de bal verkeerd na een approach dan kan er zomaar een 3-putt volgen. De greens zijn helaas niet beschreven in de birdieguide. De caddiemaster zou deze opmerking meenemen. We hebben een leuke ronde gehad. Het hotel is erg goed en heeft goede kamers. Jammer dat we geen tijd voor de Priestman course hadden die erbij ligt. Wij vinden deze locatie zeker een aanbeveling.
