dagmarbuysse review

Founded in 1892, this typical English members club has a genuinely original links course. This is the real deal. It doesn’t get more authentic than this. Located right by the coast, the golf course is completely exposed to the elements of nature. Pro: -Original links golf course with an amazing history. Hosted The Open twice, The Amateur championship and many Final Open Qualifying venues. -Classic links with 9 out and 9 in, large greens, drastic run offs, hard fairways, hard greens, loads of pot bunkers, undulating fairways with plenty of nodules, elevated tees, no trees, thick rough and sea view. -Grass tee on the driving range. -I loved the pot bunkers and the quality of the sand in those bunkers. -The practice facilities are okay (but not impressive). Putting green, chipping green (with a pot bunker) and driving range. -Sea view. -View on the white cliffs of the coastline. -The clubhouse has all the facilities a golfer needs. -Proper pro shop. Con: - This is an issue that I’m kind of on the fence about. As I am not a member of the club, it wasn’t a huge argument for a one time experience, but if this would be my home club, it would be a problem for me. All players who want to enter the club facilities are required to either wear long trousers. If they chose to wear shorts, they need to pair them with knee high socks so their legs are not exposed. It is something the club continues to enforce as a rule of tradition. So I had to buy a pair of those sexy socks in the club shop and sport them around the course in very warm summer conditions. -Even though this is an amazing golf course,150 pounds is a lot of money for a greenfee (180 on the weekend). -On top of a pricy greenfee, you also have to pay for driving range balls. You would expect this to be included. -The clubhouse has all the facilities a golfer needs, but it’s not very modern.
