Leonard review

Dellach is one of the oldest courses in Austria built in 1927 and renovated a couple of times since. From the start until hole 13 the course is really hilly where you need some excellent shot making to set a decent score. There is a lot of out of bounds and sometimes the fairways are really narrow. I have the feeling the course in it's original state was more fun to play but when they extended the holes they lost the original ideas of the French architect who built the first 9 holes in 1927. From hole 13 a tough uphill par 3 the course opens up and you have a great view of the Wörthersee below. Hole 14 and 15 are a lot more open and have great bunkering. The par 3 hole 16th 179 meter from yellow has a very shallow, extremely undulated green. This hole is unfair in my opinion on some places on this green it's impossible to make a 2 put. The best way to play it is to hit it in the hill and have a chip to the pin... Also the finishing hole 18 another long (195m.) par 3 over the driving range doesn't feel very natural. What is also very nice is Dellach's 'halfway' house between hole 10 and 11, you have great view over the 10th holes and the local treats we got were excellent. So my conclusion on this course, take a buggy, drive straight, keep your driver in the bag on the first 12 holes and enjoy the beautiful views.
