Europe

Golf as a sport first took off along the sandy shorelines of Great Britain, particularly along the east coast of Scotland. Since then - due to a rising middle class and better transporation means - golf has spread throughout Europe.

Much money was spent on Narin-Portnoo in the last year and a half. The tees in general are a big improvement but the new greens are no better than the originals and I would say worse. The 7th hole is a joke and there are three new par threes which are Micky Mouse. The 18th must be one of the worst holes I've played in 30 years, much too long and if the prevailing wind is blowing most golfers will finish their round with a blank in total disgust. You can't see the par 5 10th until you walk onto it, a particularly bad design.

Cracking course. Just a pity we played only 9 with the course maintenence going on. I'd say the 18 is stunning.
