Golf Club The Hoge Kleij is situated in the Province of Utrecht near the small town of Leusden and the course was built in the 1980’s on part of an old estate, Den Treek. This area of Holland is called the Utrecht “Heuvelrug”, which means the hilly backbone of Utrecht. This is not flat Dutch polder land, but an undulating , wooded part of the country. The golf course, situated as it is in old woodland,, presents the player with intriguing glimpses of the original estate through the trees lining the fairways and wide views over the surrounding countryside from the higher tees.
The course has recently been completely renovated to make it more interesting for the modern golfer, and the strategic lie of bunkers and hazards give the player the choice between an offensive or defensive playing strategy. There is little water, but the greens are challengingly fast! The 19e hole is a haven of peace and faces various fairways and holes, while the restaurant offers an excellent selection of food and beverages at a reasonable price. The terrace, with its heaters and awning, give warmth and protection on a cool day.
The club members are not restricted by teeing-off times, and the Hoge Kleij is glad to welcome visitors. It is however necessary to check with the caddie master ahead of time and he will be glad to advise you on a mutually convenient tee-off time.
Should you be interested in becoming a member, our office staff will be glad to give you all relevant information. On behalf of the Committee I wish you a great round of golf on one of the best woodland courses in the Netherlands.
