Ombria Resort Golf Course

The Ombria Resort golf course in the Algarve stands out from the rest for several reasons. It's conveniently located and easy to reach from Vilamoura, making it a must-visit destination for golf enthusiasts in the area. During our visit, the course was still under construction, so we couldn't make use of the practice facilities. The first hole is particularly impressive, starting with an easy-to-reach par 5 from an elevated tee box. The course has many signature holes, such as holes 3 and 5 on the front nine, which have a drop of approximately 40-50m from an elevated tee box. On the back nine, holes 12,15, and 16 are also true gems, each with its unique features. Despite being under construction, the course was well-maintained, and the Bermuda grass used was in good condition, although still waking up from the winter season. The greens were being aerated and sanded in preparation for the soft opening in April. The views around the course were stunning, with the resort and its beautiful architecture visible from almost every hole. The clubhouse, currently under construction, will be built like a castle, setting the tone for the course's overall luxurious feel. Overall, the Ombria Resort golf course is a must-visit destination in the Algarve, with its unique holes, stunning views, and luxurious amenities making it a top choice for golf enthusiasts.

Dit is een unieke golfbaan. Een must do! Spectaculair met heel veel WAUW momenten. Er zijn diverse redenen om deze baan te gaan spelen. De ligging is werkelijk subliem. In een rustige natuurlijke ligging slingeren de eerste negen zich in en om een vallei. Spectaculaire afslagen met groot hoogteverschil en fantastische uitzichten vanaf de tees. Een rivier doorkruist vaak de holes en het spel naar de greens. Het is adembenemend. Soms liggen de fairways wel wat te dicht langs elkaar (1 en 8). De tweede negen hebben een weidser karakter. De holes zijn opgenomen in de natuur en omgeving op een imponerende manier. Er is namelijk nergens bebouwing langs de holes. De architect heeft het clubhuis en appartementen op een heuvel neergezet in de vorm van een dorp. Werkelijk geniaal gedaan. Het draagt zo bij tot een maximale beleving van de natuur en omgeving. Tijdens spelen was het clubhuis/restaurant nog onder constructie. Ook de driving range en short game area waren nog in planning. Ik twijfel echter niet dat dit ook subliem gaat worden! Alvast veel plezier met spelen!
