Golfens popularitet i Portugal visas också av det faktum att European Tour nyligen har varit värd för golfturneringar i Portugal, till exempel Portugal Masters på en av de bästa golfklubbarna i Portugal: Victoria Golf Course - Dom Pedro Golf. Som nämnts är Portugal en viktig golfdestination och detta beror främst på den stora tillgången på bra golfbanor och det milda klimatet. Mångfalden i golfklubbar är enorm. Tack vare sitt trevliga klimat, livliga kustbyar och den höga kvaliteten på Portugal golfbanor, är golf i Portugal erkänt som en av de bästa golfdestinationerna i världen.

De 18-holes golfbaan is ontworpen door de bekende Amerikaanse golfarchitect Cabell B.Robinson en werd ingehuldigd op 14 juni 1997. Diepe bunkers, glooiende greens en zandduinen staan in schril contrast met de weelderige fairways, waardoor het een complete golfuitdaging is.

Very good course on a small step from a beautiful coast and beach. Surfers paradise close by. The course is well maintained and not too difficult to walk. The greens are tough and fast. Don't be too dissapointed when you score a 3 putt. The clubhouse is OK and has a good kitchen. It's advised to have dinner there. Driving range is OK not special. The closing holes are very scenic. Good course. Hotel is great but the apartments are superb.

Gespielt im Februar bei schwierigen Windverhältnissen auf den Bahnen am Atlantik, aber ich fange vorn an. Von Google wunderbar geleitet brauchte ich von Sintra aus 80 Minuten mit dem Auto. Ab Lissabon besser zwei Stunden rechnen, denn der Verkehr rund um die Hauptstadt ist oft zäh. Vorgebucht mit Golfhälftetcard. Schnelle und exakte Abwicklung, sehr freundliches Personal. Buggy ist bei den teilweise sehr langen Strecken zwischen Grün und Abschlag empfehlenswert. Driving Range macht einen etwas kümmerlichen Eindruck, auch Chipping- und Putting-Green fallen für einen Klub mit diesem Ruf recht klein aus. Die ersten Neun im Pinienwald sind schön und nicht allzu schwer zu spielen, auch der Seewind hat wenig Einfluss, wenn man den Ball einigermaßen flach hält. Die zweiten Neun am Meer sind besonders bei Wind anspruchsvoll und fordernd. Aber man hat wegen der breiten Fairways kaum Ballverluste. Spektakuläre Ausblicke entschädigen, wenn der Score nicht immer passt. Boxen und Fairways in gutem Zustand für die Jahreszeit, in der das Gras nun mal weniger wächst. Grüns waren schnell und die Fahnenpositionen waren nicht einfach ausgewählt. Insgesamt ein feiner Platz, der sicherlich zur entsprechenden Jahreszeit noch einmal zulegt. Zum Restaurant kann ich nichts sagen. Der Preis ist meiner Meinung nach ohne Redukton recht hoch, aber man ist halt in einer Ferienregion mit entsprechend hochwertigem Resort. Dieses sorgt dann auch für die oft sehr langen Wege zum nächsten Abschlag. Fazit: Gerne wieder, wenn ich mal wieder in der Region bin.
