BelgianGolfer review

I played the 18 holes course 2 days in row. On the first day we got a buggy ride before our round to do a quick tour around the course and learn about the project. Most interestingly they own property near the ocean which is available to hopefully build 4 new holes to integrate into the course. Although it's called Visby, it's actually about a 30 min drive South of Visby town. I didn't know the original design was the first on the island, but it seems that former Swedish touring pro Pierre Fulke changed so much, it can be considered his design. The practice facilities are a bit more further away from the clubhouse. A putting green is located next to the first tee, but they are in progress of finishing a new putting green in front of the clubhouse next to the ocean. I really enjoyed this course and rate it as one of the best in Sweden. Great layout, vary good bunkering and varying holes. The closing hole par 5 18th used to played in the opposite direction as the 1st or the 10th. It's a great hole. Very good maintenance too. It took us some effort to get to Gotland to play Visby GK, but it was all worth it. I was told the club has 1800 members, half of them from Sweden's main land. That's a lot. In the holiday season like July you can expect a fully packed course. With tee times every 7 or 8 minutes we did have to wait on tees quite a lot, but I can understand the members want to play the course. Nice clubhouse with the local Wisby beer, fish & chips, and a friendly service.
