It’s the first time I have been back since the Bracken Course was built and what a difference in every department. Both courses were in excellent condition considering the wet winter all of us have in countered the Bracken a little bit more soggy than the Hotchkin. The difference between the two courses is the attraction the Hotchkin the old traditional type and the Bracken has tricky undulating greens. The practise facilities are superb with bays for hitting golf balls and a putting studio to improve your putting and if that’s not enough it has its own gym. As for improvements I can’t really say a lot needs doing one or two little things like one of the starting huts(Bracken) needs a bit of TLC but I’m being a bit petty! If you what a decent few days or more away playing golf this is the ideal place, as it has everything a golfer needs.
There are few better places to enjoy a full day of golfing than at Woodhall Spa. Home to the National Golf Centre and England Golf, the governing body for the amateur game in this country, Woodhall Spa has the luxury of two courses. It is the famed Hotchkin that grabs most of the headlines, and rightly so, because this is undoubtedly one of the finest golf courses in the British Isles and for many the ultimate inland golfing experience. The Hotchkin is a wonderfully surreal place to enjoy a round of golf. Here you will find glorious seclusion on an inspiring piece of land that was touched by JH Taylor, Harry Vardon and Harry Colt but was ultimately shaped, through the endless work and love of the property, by Colonel Stafford Vere Hotchkin.
