Een fantastische baan, met een spectaculair uitzicht op de zee en het naast de golfbaan gelegen strand. Zeker niet de goedkoopste, maar het zeker waard. Wij konden gelukkig een korting op de Greenfee krijgen vanwege Feis Ile (whiskey week op Islay). Quando ho giocato la club house era in ristrutturazione, così come l’albergo, pertanto non posso esprimere giudizi. Campo e panorama fantastici. Il campo molto difficile. Il più bello che abbia mai visto. Voto 10.

Sono stato in questo campo quando era in ristrutturazione per cui non ho potuto apprezzare la club house. ho apprezzato invece il campo da golf per la qualità della manutenzione e per la difficoltà dello stesso. Da tornarci.

Fantastic course! The setting is right by the sea and wind is a big factor. Layout makes it easy to find your way with lots of signs and you don’t see a lot of people even on a full day. Na m'n vorige beoordeling weer de boot naar Islay genomen. De baan ligt er fantastisch bij, het hotel en clubhuis zijn nu helemaal klaar. Vanuit de bar en restaurant prachtig zicht op de baan. Het personeel is uiterst voorkomend en vakbekwaam. Een betere golfbestemming kan ik niet noemen.

In the summer of 2018 The Machrie hotel and clubhouse was being rebuild. The greenfee was reduced and there was hardly any play on the course. As a result the course was in flawless condition. No pitchmarks, no divots, just perfection. Okay, we had sun and a light breeze but this course is a real gem! Combine it with a whiskey tour and you have perfection.

De gerenoveerde baan is klaar, is makkelijker dan de oude baan (zeker voor vrouwen), veel blind shots zijn verdwenen, de fairways vriendelijker. Mijn 'hellhole' (17) is vervangen door een super dogleg. Men bouwt en sjouwt nog rond het nieuwe hotel/clubhuis/restaurant. Het ziet er veelbelovend uit. The Machrie ondergaat momenteel en grootschalige renovatie/re-design. Een volldig nieuwe routing is ontworpen en die is voorjaar 2017 helemaal bespeelbaar (zie foto). Ook wordt er een volledig nieuw hotel gebouwd naast de nieuwe 18de green. Dit hotel wordt in het voorjaar van 2018 opgeleverd. Dit zou zomaar eens een van de mooiste Schotse links banen kunnen gaan worden.

Baan is under construction (april 2016). Er is een nieuwe eigenaar die baan, clubhuis etc onder handen aan het nemen is. Er zijn 14 holes bespeelbaar; in principe alleen voor leden nu er verbouwd wordt. Toch mocht ik spelen van de gastvrouw. Baan was heerlijk, goed bespeelbaar met harde, snelle green. Echte linksbaan op een prachtig eiland.

Prachtige linksbaan goed onderhouden clubhuis is oude hotel, redelijke puinhoop, bruinwater uit toilet, vieze kleedruimtes, oude failliette inboedel, bar ging om 16.45 uur dicht net toen we van de baan kwamen. Hadden baan voor ons alleen , 1 andere speler. Baan om van te dromen veel blinde afslagen en blinde slagen naar de green

Een baan als deze moet je een keer gespeeld hebben. Dit is een linksbaan in optima forma. Talloze blind tee shots en dito approaches. Dit is golf in zijn oervorm. Geweldig!

Een echte ouderwets linkscourse, zoals deze ooit bedoeld zijn. Prima onderhouden baan en een warm Schots welkom door de manager Ian Brown. Bijzonderheid: in de achterzaal staat een grote oude tafel, afkomstig uit de herensocieteit van Charles Dickens waaraan op verzoek met groepen gelunched kan worden.
