About Brora Golf Club

A James Braid traditional links course

Traditional links course re-designed by James Braid in 1923. Brora Golf Club was established in 1891 and the Club recently celebrated its Centenary. In 1923 James Braid, five times Open Champion and a prolific designer of golf courses, the most famous of which is Gleneagles, visited the course and redesigned the 18 hole layout which has stood the passing of time and remains a fair and challenging test of true links golf. Brora presents all the attributes of the Scottish seaside links, there is bent and gorse - often in full bloom for Golf Week - Juniper and Thyme in profusion.

Brora 1/1
Holes: 18
The layout is classic: an easy opening hole, a short hole facing each cardinal point of the compass, a hole you can't reach in two shots and the last green under the clubhouse window. The Brora course will ensure that you use every club in the bag, and that you will have to adapt and manufacture according to whether the course is running fast or sl

18th green is the only handmade green. The course is fully natural. The condition of the course is excellent and the greens are on point. Not that long of a course. The length is 6.200 yards long. Tom Watson said: “the back nine beated me up”. Which only means that it can be a really challenging course depending on weather conditions. Beautiful design by James Braid,…

A mi me enamoró.

Perhaps I was a little biased by the fantastic sunny and calm day or by far the best score I ever shot on a links course, but for me Brora is the epitome of enjoyable golf. There's no blend quite like it when it comes to scenery, quality, authenticity and playability. It's a holiday course, yet will never get boring. It's covered with grazing sheep and cattle, yet it is k…
