About Royal Dornoch Golf Club

Dornoch golf club, formed in 1877, has now been a Royal club for over 100 years! Royal Dornoch always aims to exceed the expectations of frequent visitors and loyal members. However, this is done in a relaxed, informal environment, with an emphasis on traditional highland hospitality. The responsibility for actually designing the Championship course fell to the legendary Old Tom Morris, who used the unique links-land features to create a magical golfing experience. Over the years the Championship course has been tweaked and enhanced. Open Champion, George Duncan added new holes after the war ensuring that the course has remained a challenge in the face of ever improving equipment and continues to be regularly ranked within the top 15 best courses in the world. It’s not just the Championship course that benefits from the challenges that links-land throws up. The recent addition of five new holes on the Struie have transformed this course into one that still maintains its role as an enjoyable and entertaining course for the whole family, but also one that tests even the lower handicap player. Royal Dornoch has a modern clubhouse and everyone is welcome to enjoy the facilities. For those who don’t golf, Dornoch’s superb ‘blue flag’ beaches and historic old town are just a short walk away.

Championship Course 1/2
Holes: 18
The curving bay of the Dornoch Firth and its magnificent white broad beaches are backed by a narrow strip of softly contoured dune land rising in two distinctive levels, providing just enough room for parallel fairways. The ridges, hillocks, dunes and undulating links land have all the characters of the best of links courses, and most of the diffic

Struie Course 2/2
Holes: 18
The course originally opened as a 12 hole Ladies course in 1899 and opened to the present 18 holes in 1999. The work of Donald Steel and his design team back in the 1990s encapsulates natural Scottish Links golf, working with the natural landscape, local plant and wildlife, the layout incorporates many of the unique Dornoch features.
