On our way to the Outer Hebrides we took the ferry from Ullapool. Ullapool have a 9 hole links course which we took as a warm up! With a 4 club wind in my back I drove the 350yard long par 4! Unfortunately it was drive nr2? The first and last are the only flat holes. The rest are downhill, uphill or sideways... It was difficult in the wind but on a normal day the course is scoreable. A par 70 at only 5000yards it should be but short holes can be so difficult... And links on top of that then your great shots can end up in trouble and the bad ones in the middle of the fairway. A lot of gorse dividing the fairways too. If you don’t know what gorse is? Well it’s natures barbwire... You might be able to see your ball, actually unlikely but if you do, you can never get it... it’s impossible to walk through! On the plus side it smells like coconutoil when blooming? A fun little links with 2 different tee’s so you can play it differently the 2nd round!
