The historic parkland of Cottrell Park is set in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan and it is an idyllic setting for a golfing venue. Cottrell is very conveniently located, being only a few miles from Cardiff and it's International Airport. The beautiful parkland covers over 400 acres and offers breathtaking views sweeping northwards as far as the Brecon Beacons and southwards over the Bristol Channel to the Mendips.
The golfing facilities include two magnificent Championship Golf Courses, the Mackintosh, (6,529 yards off the blue tees), and the Button Gwinnett, (6183 yards off the white tees), as well as an all weather floodlit driving range, putting greens and golf practice areas. The Clubhouse, with its exposed beams and flagstones, has a rustic but cosy feel to it.
This championship course has been selected for a number of Welsh Golf Union and Welsh Ladies Golf Union events as well as County Matches, which is indeed a compliment to a course so young. The Mackintosh course will test golfers of all standards to the best of their abilities.
The course gets its name from past Cottrell resident, Alfred Donald Mackintosh of Mackintosh the 28th Chief of Clan Mackintosh and Chief of Clan Chattan. The course is named after a former resident and one of the fifty-six men to sign the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Button Gwinnett Course offering rolling views of the Vale, is a little gem. Based more on an American design with a number of water features spread over the 18 holes, this course offers challenges for all categories of golfers.
