About The Country Club

The Country Club is one of the oldest country clubs in the United States. It has hosted many USGA tournaments including 4 U.S. Opens (the first one in 1913!) and 9 U.S. Amateur/U.S. Woman's Amateur tournaments. In 1999 it hosted a memorable edition of the Ryder Cup which was won by Team USA (14,5-13,5). The Country Club is also one of the five founding members of the USGA. The Country Club has a total of 27 holes, divided between two courses. The Main Course consists of the Clyde and Squirrel loops which are the original 18 holes. This is the course that members or visitors play and also the course that was used for the 1913 U.S. Open. There are 9 more holes which make the Primrose Course, an executive course built in 1927. There is also a Championship Course, which is used for major tournaments, when a longer layout is required. In this configuration, three holes from the Primrose Course are used to replace three holes of the Clyde, resulting in a length of almost 7400 yards. For the 2022 US Open, the Championship Course will be a little different from the course that was used in other championships, with the par-4 fourth hole of the main course removed and the par 3 12th hole (a par-3 of 131 yards!) of the main course added, resulting in a 7263-yard par 70 layout.
