Alwoodley is recognised as one of Britain’s finest inland courses. It was designed by Alister MacKenzie, the famous golf course architect. He left a legacy of classic golf courses – Alwoodley was the first.
Established in 1907, the MacKenzie-designed layout remains today, though lengthened to 6,900 yards. A natural heathland course, springy fairways cut through a profusion of heather, whins and shrubs.

A worthy part of the UK top 100 courses, the only downside is the inhospitable clubhouse area which is in my humble opinion a little to up itself. The course however is my favourite in Yorkshire and it always excites me when I get the chance to play their
