Le choix des golfeurs
Heures de golf
It is not immediately obvious where you can find the golfclub. Though the clubhouse is a very prominent ‘temple’ (the entry indeed looks like that), it is on a industrial are, and lacks a clear indication since it’s a shared facility. You park on parking side with a barrier. But all these obstacles are diminished by the very hospitable reception inside. And then you see that on the back of the clubhouse is a nice terrace looking out on the training facilities. Thunersee furthermore offers a pitch&put and a 9 hole course, making it an suitable venue for starting golfers. We found it overpriced at 50francs for a 9-hole par 32 round. On a overcast day, I would skip it at that price. But on the day we played it, the clear views to the snowcapped Alps, made it worth it. The course is at the other side of the parking lot, with a starting house where a display shows the expected players – very efficient and also interesting to see which players with which handicaps are in the course. The lay-out is quite simple 4/3/4/3/4/3/4/3/4, and it is not long – four par4 are less than 300 metres from yellow. Being a flat course, it is not very strenuous. Nor is it very difficult, holes 3 and 5 being the most challenging hole with water hazards coming into play. The greens were in very good condition, so smooth and straight that they were almost too easy. Thunersee is not a spectacular course, but we found it quite enjoyable and especially appreciated the friendly ambiance. It happens only very rarely that a caddymasters drives by a round of guests afterwards to ask how they liked the course.
