1. Real Sociedad Hípica Española Club de Campo

Although the Sociedad Hípica Española has fewer reviews than most of our list it still comes in number one with a rating of 9.1. It was founded in 1902 and was granted the Royal prefix by King Alfonso XII in 1908. The RSHECC consists of two 18-hole golf courses, designed by Robert Von Hagge, a driving range and a short hole course. The courses were constructed on an estate that is covered in evergreen oaks and scrub and the round runs over uneven, undulating terrain. Besides these challenging courses, the resort also offers horse riding and tennis to keep you entertained.

2. PGA Catalunya Resort

PGA Catalunya Resort is home to 36 really good holes, which form two great courses: the Stadium Course and Tour Course. Golfers rate both courses very highly. The Stadium Course, however, is the absolute favourite and also more demanding. The golf resort is situated close to Girona airport and not too far from Barcelona or the coast. The totally refurbished Camiral Hotel is great and is located on the golf course.

3. Real Club de Golf El Prat

Greg Norman-designed the majestic Real Club de Golf El Prat It is located close to Barcelona (just a 30-minute drive) and adjacent to the Sant Llorenç del Munt in l’Obac Natural Park. El Prat has 45 holes consisting of two 18-hole courses (Pink & Yellow) and a smaller 9-hole course (Valles). The Pink Course (Rosa) is the highest rated course by golfers. The wonderful Hotel La Mola is also located just a few minutes’ walks from the course.

4. Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community

Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community is a golfers’ paradise with 170 hectares devoted to three golf courses and two clubhouses. Each course offers a different experience with a variety of backdrops and designs. The Lakes Course is surrounded by nature around the stunning wetlands, whilst The Hills Course showcases the area’s pine groves and quarries. The 9 hole Ruins Course runs between a second-century archaeological site to which the course owes its name.

5. Villa Padierna

Villa Padierna features 3 golf courses (Flamingos Golf, Alferini Golf and Tramores Golf). Golfers rate The Alferini as the highest of the courses. Whereas the Tramores is the least of the three courses. Villa Padierna is located only 10 minutes from Puerto Banus. The Villa Padierna Palace Hotel is designed like a Tuscan palace. It features a 2,000 m² spa, Roman Amphitheater and a luxurious beach club.

6. La Cala Resort

La Cala is a genuine haven of tranquillity and this golf resort is home to three high-quality golf courses: Campo America, Campo Europa and Campo Asia. Golfers have a slight preference for the America course, but differences are very small. When playing at La Cala Resort, golfers advise hiring a buggy. You can stay at the La Cala Resort, an exclusive complex with a great swimming pool overlooking the golf course and a luxurious spa.

7. Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort

Alcaidesa is a golf resort where you will find style, nature, views, security, and the best golf all wrapped up in one place. Located in one of the most exclusive areas in the south of Spain. Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort means enjoying the only Links-type golf course in the south of Spain. 18 holes with spectacular views over the Mediterranean and Gibraltar. It also offers a second 18-hole, Heathland-type course, kilometres of practically virgin beach, restaurants, hotels and properties for living all year round.

8. El Rompido Golf & Beach Resort

“36 holes of nature…” is undoubtedly the best way to describe the Golf El Rompido golf course. Prestigious Spanish designer, Alvaro Arana created both of the courses. They represent a new concept in golf, where the fundamental objective is respect for the environment. The North and South Course are both decent golf courses. Golfers tend to favour the North Course just a little more. You can decide to stay in the Precise Resort El Rompido Hotel. Or the Precise Resort El Rompido The Club, which offers apartments.

9. San Roque Club

The San Roque Club offers all the facilities you’d expect from such a golf resort on the Costa del Sol. The two contrasting golf courses (Old & New Course) are as challenging as they are beautiful. According to golfers, the golf courses are pretty similar in quality. The San Roque Suites are a great place to stay and offer 2-bedroom bungalows suitable for up to 5 adults. There are four different restaurants serving an array of high-class cuisine from Japanese to Spanish tapas.

10. Empordà Golf Resort

The Empordà Golf Resort enjoys a privileged location just thirty minutes from Girona and its airport, and fifteen minutes from the best beaches on the Costa Brava. The course at Empordà Golf consists of 36 holes divided between two 18-hole rounds: Links and Forest. Robert Von Hagge successfully integrated a links-style area with large lakes, dunes and extensive bunkers into a Mediterranean landscape. This gives us dense, well-maintained pinewoods and wide fairways.

Note: Club de Campo Villa de Madrid also has a high rating of 8.3. However, it has only been reviewed 11 times so we decided not to include it in the top 10. Well worth checking out this resort though.
