Tee time
The Albatros course of Lé Golf National is a beast! It’s an inland-links-style golf course with hard greens, narrow fairways, a lot of water and very very very dense rough. Pro: -Easy to book. Just go on their website and book a tee time. -Very friendly at the reception. We even received a free tee gift! -Very often these top golf courses where the tour plays are very exclusive and not very open for visitors. But not at Le Golf National. Everyone is welcome. -300 metre driving range. -Very challenging golf course (Albatros). -There’s a few risk-reward holes. I like that a lot. You can choose to lay up short of the water and play a safe wedge to the island green, or you can choose to go for it with a wood or a long iron and have a chance to putt for an eagle. -It’s awesome to play this course knowing that in a few months the Ryder Cup will be played here. -Big shop with plenty of Ryder Cup memorabilia. -The golf course feels very natural. Even though it is very well maintained, it is not manicured. It looks natural and wild. Not man-made. -Great bunkers with wonderful sand. -Perfect fairways. Like a carpet! -Beautiful tee boxes. -Every hole has a cool name. -On this golf club you meet golfers from all over the world. I guess we weren’t the only ones who wanted to come and play the Ryder Cup 2018 golf course. Con: -The rough was way too dense and high for me. Especially with the narrow fairways and the ever blowing wind it is hard to avoid ending up in the rough now and then. And when that happens: forget it! Your ball is gone! (I must have lost 10 balls during my round…) -This is not a ‘feel-good’ golf course. Prepare for it mentally. Otherwise you will not enjoy this round of golf. Bring enough of balls and be prepared to lose them. Don’t get frustrated and just be grateful you can play this course. -The greenkeepers were not very considerate. On many holes they were in our way and didn’t want to move. Paying a price like this (140 euro) you would expect it differently.
