Tee times
Playing at Morfontaine is a dream come true for every golfer. I think the most accurate way to describe Morfontaine is that each of the 27 holes, they have the 18 holes Grand Parcours and the 9 holes Valliere, can be the signature hole on a very good course. The design by Tom Simpson (renovated by Kyle Phillips) is so good that on every tee you stand in awe. The unexpected bunkering, the fine greens and perfect fairways are a joy to play. The strongest quality in my opinion at Morfontaine are the dimensions, the perfect balance between holes, fairways, heather, tree’s and greens. Were Sunningdale is maybe too grand and De Pan in Utrecht a bit too tight Morfontaine has exactly the right balance. We played the Valliere (9 hls.) in the morning and thoroughly enjoyed, this definitely not a ‘small’ or warm-up course there are 9 full size holes and it’s challenging from the start. The first hole a short par 4 dogleg right has a very challenging green kuddo’s if you get a par on this first hole. The green on the 8th par 5 SI 1 is also amazing. What I like the most from Simpson’s design is his ability to make ‘shorter’ holes great to play but still very challenging. After a delicious lunch we played the Grand Parcours in my opinion the first course I played with 4 perfect par 3’s all of them are just heaven you want to play 3 balls on every par 3 just to try different tactics. In the little pro shop most stuff like shirts etc. are members only but if you ask the manager it is possible to buy a beautiful ball marker.
