There are two courses in the grounds of the Murrayshall Hotel, the Murrayshall and shorter Lynedoch. We played the Murrayshall which is a good woodland test as it crosses to and fro over a Scottish hillside with views of Perth and the scenic Perthshire countryside. The course is quite open and forgiving with a tough dog leg at 7, known as Dog’s Grave, an excellent par 5 at 9 which swings from left to right from a raised tee, a challenging short par 4 at 10 with a lovely pitch over water, but the pick was the downhill 17th, a long par 4 at 450 yards. The fairways were ok but the big greens were bumpy after a lot of recent aeriation work following a wretched winter. It was a fun and reassuring course to play and excellent value. The clubhouse is shared with the hotel and was adequate and the professional and members we spoke to were friendly.
