Terrible experience and a feeling of being tricked by leading courses. The description on the booking site is so far from correct. The fairway was completely dry and beige. Great course phantastically crafted into landscape, outstanding. De-luxe club facility, sadly the club & course suroundings suffer from wildfire in 2021. Unfortunately course is a bit felty and wooly,- tee boxes and range not in best possible shape today … although quite early in the season. Great to be back to a special place and Number 1 in Portugal. Practice grounds ready to warm up, course was overall in good condition. Expecting greens to be faster, so it wasnt a bad thing. This golf course has just an awesome layout. Every hole is different and very challenging. The range is very nice and the staff is really nice. I played here twice and it was a real pleasure.

We played Monte Rei on the 23rd of January, this means that the bermuda grass is dormant and brown, it doesn’t effect the playing conditions a lot on a top course like this but the look and feel is different compared to when the grass is green. After years I revisited this high-end course designed by Jack Nicklaus. We played here in January- so early in the season - which meant the bermuda grass is still in hibernation. In a few months time the grass will be much greener and more lush, but don’t expect fabulous conditions of the fairways and greens early in the season. Course is situated on a large area, so you hardly see other players, which is a nice change compared to some courses! Being a distance out from the other Algarve golf courses all I can say is we are glad we made the decision to play it. Each hole feels like it’s on its own, with great contouring and greens great. Water hazards add to the excitement.

Superb golf course. Fantastic design. Every hole is very separate so it is a great retreat to relax. Course was a little wet in places after heavy rain the days before and greens were unfortunately a bit slow but this is a championship course that is well worth a visit. Monte Rei deserves all the plaudits, the whole experience is world class. The course had suffered from wild fires when we played, the condition was good, I’m sure it is fantastic most of the time. You must experience the restaurant food is amazing, have golf and tapas experience really is a great way to finish off your day.

The golf course is amazing, but the conditions of the greens on the first day weren't great as they needed to be cut/rolled. There had been a wildfire the year before which had affected some of the views and the lakes were still low on water levels. But that is not the fault of Monte Rei which is an amazing layout. Amazing course and service. The views, the lay out and the conditions are extra ordinary. Please note that the back nine are very challenging not to say very hard and probably not suitable for beginners or even the average player.

We were speechless! Once in a lifetime experience. Every hole gives you a wow-effect. The greens are perfect. Nice white bunkers, a lot of water. Very professional staff. The starter was top. At the end we get a personal present.

Stunning course in a beautiful setting. Every hole in it's own valley, so it feels like your alone on the course. Expensive yes, but worth the splurge. Staff is top, courteous with a smile. This course is in my personal top 3!

The staff were very friendly and professional, really enjoyed the food at the restaurant. The golf course was both challenging and enjoyable but I was expecting the course to be in better condition, I was expecting really lush green fairways but they were a bit dry. This staff invented hospitality! We’ve played this month 14-courses in the Algarve but this one was outstanding! The only thing that was terrible wrong, they spilled coffee on the saucer!

Great lay out unfortunately due to the dry conditions the course is not in its best shape therefore making it a expensive day out Service by staff is excellent, clubhouse is fantastic.

What a beautiful course, everything is nice, since you get Monte rei you know you’re in a great golf course Maintenance is perfect and the design is really funny is challenging but playable for all players, greens are a good test and rolls fast.
