Golfclub Weissensberg was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr and opened in 1988. The course is considered to be one of Germany's toughest courses. Mainly due to its narrow fairways,96 well placed bunkers and relatively small greens. Since a few friends of mine are members at the club I try to play the course at least once a year - to not much success. :-) The course is built on moorland which is usually not ideally suited for golf. Therefore it's not surprising that the course often had issues with wet and muddy fairways in the past. And the tree lined course also got very very narrow over the years. Thanks to good decisions by management some drainage work was done and a few trees were cleared over the last couple of years. In my opinion a few more trees need to go but it's a good start. Also the rooms in the adjacent hotel got a nice upgrade recently. So overall things go in a good direction.
