Beoordeling door Leonard over Castelgandolfo Golf Club

CastelGandolfo is located in an old volcano crater what gives its beautiful views when you tee-off at 1 or 10 its a big circle of green where the 18 holes are carefully designed. The designer was Robert Trent Jones Sr. and there are some very interesting holes. Unfortunately when we were there the rough was way to high and in fact my biggest remark is the maintenance. When we were teeing off at1 around 9:30 in the morning two greenkeepers were busy with loud machines paying no attention to our flight who wanted to begin. Also the bunkers can really use an upgrade. The tee-boxes also need an overhaul, they were pretty barren especially hole 10. The routing was a bit complicated here and there it would be handy if you could see the number of the hole on the back side of the signs so you don't have to walk around it also some more signage along the paths would be helpful. So this course is definitely worth playing and if they would invest more in maintenance and polish the 17th century clubhouse this gem would shine like the diamond it is beneath.
