Very good maintenance conditions, specially on the greens. A great parkland feelings, but where the links feeling can also be present. Up and down course which requires different shots skill.

We stayed in the Dormy House the night before our round. The hospitality was superb with a very nice welcome and complimentary drinks on arrival. The golf course itself is absolutely stunning. It has a great variety of holes and was in superb condition. I couldn’t recommend playing Formby enough!

Pro shop is pretty small.

Man kann es an der Bewertung erkennen, dass ich massiv beeindruckt war und kann nur jeden empfehlen wenn er in die Region Liverpool kommt diesen Platz zu spielen. Genau wie in Birkdale und Hillside stimmt hier einfach alles und es ist ein Genuss diesen Platz zu spielen.

Played hundreds of courses but this is certainly one of the very best. Some links and some parkland with pine trees everywhere and usually see some red squirrels. Formby is Worldclass. Veel strategische bunkers. Onderschat de korte holes niet. De baan kent een prachtige lay out enerzijds links en anderzijds bos. Vergelijkbaar met de Noordwijkse. Greens waren zeer goed.

Formby is een prima course, een van de vele mooie linksbanen in West-Lancashire. Ook hier weer last van de droogte dus in de baan ben je bij het raken van de fairway nog niet gegarandeerd van een succesvol resultaat. Greens waren van goede kwaliteit. Heel veel afwisseling door de baan, verschillende lengtes in de par 3’s, doglegs links en rechts, dan weer open dan weer bo… Meer

De meeste golfers komen voor de Royals in deze regio maar eigenlijk zou Formby Golf Club boven aan je lijstje moeten staan. Wat is dit een geweldige baan. Ich war beruflich in der Gegend und wollte unbedingt einen der berühmten Linksplätze rund um Southport spielen. Formby Golf Club bietet im Clubhaus Zimmer zum übernachten an. Umso erfreuter war ich über die positive Nachricht, dass sowohl Zimmer als auch 2 Startzeiten für mich noch frei waren. Das Einzelzimmer ist einfach aber für 45£ inkl. Formby is quite unusual for two reasons. First, it is a links bounded on three sides by trees. Second, it encircles one of the oldest ladies clubs in the country, Formby Ladies GC. The course is a fair and fine test of golf and although it is set quite away from the sea, with heather and trees featuring on many holes, it’s clear that Formby plays every inch of the championships links that it is. Prachtige golfbaan door het duinlandschap. Een mix van holes tussen grove dennen en holes in het open links landschap. Doet denken aan De Noordwijkse. Een belevenis. Simply outstanding. It's the best course not to have hosted the open. A must visit.
