The golf course has a lot of history. It is recommended to ask for a little tour as soon as you pop in at the club house, and they will happily explain you: -How members used to arrive by train from all over Scotland to play at these gourgeous links -A map showing where visitors from all over the world show up In my opinion, they should have kept the old hotel, (Rather than breaking it down), and work the club house around that building. Instead, the built a new club house, which has amazing views to the course from the outside, but it is not the most Scottish Classic design seeing neither from the parking lot nor from the course. But that is fine, since the Old Tom Morris design course makes up for it, with the stunning views around. Started liking the course from the very first moment we teed off. Definitely, reaching the first par 4 in one with my driver was also a plus and a little dosis of adrenaline. The views towards a little fishertown really impressed us within the first fairways. Just wait until you get up to hole 8-9-10... then the real fun begins! I would highly encourage you to forget about scoring, and hit your tee shots all the way from the back tees. It is the best way to see the original design that Old Tom Morris had in mind, and the layout of each hole makes much more sense. For instance, the tee shot from the 10th tee is something stunning. Aim to the left side fairway bunker, let it go and rip it! Then you will have an interesting uphill green over a little natural hazard coming in. I found it really impressive how the front hazard of some holes is not only some water, but rather a real river which will end up at the sea, right in front of you. There are not many blind shots. You will have to choose which side of the fairway you will like better to aim at on the last fairway (Hole 18th), since there is a massive hill in the middle of it. I would suggest to pay attention to the pin position first, in order to guarantee yourself the best angle of attack to the green. Enjoy a pint at the end of the round with the stunning views up at the cafeteria. If you still want to keep playing after lunch, apart from the Olaf course, there is also a shorter 9 hole pitch and putt course in the middle of the facility, which looks pretty fun as a practice academy. The putting green is shared with the chipping green and it is quite green. would suggest the course to add some bunkers to the practice facility in order to be able to practice them. TOP 5 GOLF COURSE IN MY LIST. PAY ANYTHING TO PLAY IT! Aberdeen has a lot to offer as well, and they are making huge investments around the city. They are also working on some renewal energy with new windshields on the water. (Something that golf courses would not agree with due to the funky views).
