Finland

Golf in Finland has been on the rise for a number of years and Finland now has quite a few golf clubs and golf courses. Most of the Finnish golf courses are really worth playing. In Finland, golf is a relatively young sport. The Helsinki Golf Club (Helsingin Golfklubi) was founded in 1932 and the Finnish Golf Association was founded in 1957.

It’s the beginning of December and to have all 3 golf courses still open and in very good shape in Finland deserves praise. Very helpful and friendly caddy master staff and the restaurant facilities are excellent. A superb complex.

A very beautiful golf course in Outokumpu with views to the Keretti mine tower on nearly every hole. Great experience, well maintained 9-holes.

Extremely popular parkland golfcourse in Helsinki metropolitan area. Very difficult to get teetimes if you have bigger group than 2 players. Reservation list full all day long. Par 73 parkland course with relatively short par 5:s and couple of drivable par 4:s. Greens are usually in very good condition, but the fairways can be really wet after the rain.

Kytäjä Golf is among top 3 clubs in Finland. Great two courses and practise facilities. Hosted the Challenge Tour events back in 2012 and 2013. South East course had total green surface renovation in the spring 2020, and should be in really good condition when the 2021 season will start. North West course will likely face the same surface renovation in the future.

The course was in a amazingly good condition for this time of year and record amount of rounds. The only negative was the amount of fallen leaves that made the ball to be hard to find even from a normally easy place.

Nice course, played this for the first time. A bit cold october morning, but the course was in great shape. Not very difficult one, but many exciting and different kind of holes. Propably go there also some other time next season!

Play golf in Finland

During summertime it stays light for quite some time in Finland; that's one of the reasons why a lot of people play a game of golf after work. Sometimes people play until after midnight. Certainly further to the north there is plenty of daylight during the summers. Playing a round of golf in Finland under the midnight sun is an unprecedented experience. The Finnish golf season lasts from May to September and often even a bit longer. During the summer temperatures usually lie around 20-25 degrees Celsius during the day. A great temperature for playing golf. In the south of Finland the summer sun shines 21 hours a day, with a few hours of twilight after sunset. That means you can play golf for almost 24 hours a day. This also means that the golf courses are not busy, because the number of players can be spread over almost 24 hours. There are dozens of tournaments every summer. The Midnight Golf Tournaments usually start or end at midnight. Playing in the late evening and night in 'normal daylight' is unique and you have to experience it once.
