Tornio Golf

This golf course is very specific. Not only do you cross the border between Finland and Sweden on some holes, but the border is mainly made up of water. And there is a lot of water all over the course. Hole no. 6 is a signature hole. I made a birdie there :-). The quality of the greens could use some work, but that is a problem with most Finnish courses we have visited.

This course is known for its location, straddling the border between Finland and Sweden; some holes start in Finland and finish in Sweden, and vice versa. The course is flat and features numerous water hazards throughout, so be sure to stock up on plenty of golf balls. A birdie on the 6th hole was a nice highlight.

We finally reach our original destination of our trip 1 course 2 countries played, its Green Zone golf. This course is located on borders with Sweden and Finland, next to big river which guarantee all year enough water, to keep it nice and green. We arrived day earlier to check the course and place, we played academy with our son, and that I would say is nothing spectacular but good to have it for kids trainings. This time we did not sleep on course we stayed somewhere else. On the day of the game we were lucky to have forecast without rain. I put this course of my must play for obvious reason, there is not many courses where you can shoot from one country to another and also to do it with fastest ball in the world (crossing the time zone :D). So I did not have any expectations, only social media promotion. Both loops starts after short walk from clubhouse. First tee is next to big parking lot which can be used as RV camp as well. Fairways on front nine are quite wide with not hidden challenges. Only challenge there is lot of water, therefore I would call it Waterland. Lakes, creeks, small ponds and heavy rough is everywhere. So even if the whole course is flat there is many challenges and I would not call it easy course. I liked greens they were in good condition, not particularly the fastest ones so far but good quality. Front nine is more open with less trees and lots of water, where back nine had few more tree lines and less water, however I believe that back nine is more difficult. I loved how the Swedish fairways are marked with Swedish flags and Finnish fairways with Finland flag. Awesome is bridge on 18th hole when you go from Swedish fairway to Finland green. Overall I have to say Green zone course did not disappoint, course were really busy with many golfers, however speed of the play was very good, I even had time to fly my drone and took few aerials shot. So thank you very much for hospitality.

Många kanadagäss och därmed mycket bajs på banan. Liten parkering om du har stor husbil. Ganska dyrt i förhållande till skicket på banan.
