Stayed at renowned resort Barsebäck for a couple of nights and played both courses. The Ocean course starts and finishes among the pines, with a very traditional style. After the 7th hole, it turns to the Øresund, where a number of holes are very close to the water, and very exposed to the elements. Stunning views and a stunning layout, which is worth the hefty price of the greenfee. The pines course would be considered a pretty decent course anywhere else, and it is certainly nice enough and in the same good condition, but it is not a match for its celebrated sibling. The onsite restaurant has glorious sea views and much more culinary appeal than most golf course clubhouse restaurants.

I played Barcebäck 20 years ago and was looking very much forward to the experience. We played both courses. Both are nice but the Ocean is of course the star of the resort. I remembered the courses as being much more treecovered. After playing I read that more than 4000 trees has been cut down. A big pity in my opinion. Both courses now plays like American resort courses, where you can bomb away with no risk of loosing a ball ....maybe except the holes along the sea that are lined with long grass. The Pines course is as said nice but with no exceptional and memorable holes maybe except hole 7. Ocean has a few memorable holes, especially those along the sea. Both courses has fantastic and very fast greens. The clubhouse is situated with the most beautiful view out over Oresund. All together a very nice experience, but to be in the very top tire the course is lacking in memorable holes and a little more rough nature.

Bra banor i super bra kondition, kanske Sveriges top 5.

Pine Course (Donald Steel)
