This golf course is fully open to the public, although members do have priority tee times on weekends. The course was built on an old horse farm. There are some houses also built on the property, but not too many holes run alongside the houses. It is easy to walk and in good condition. Average golf course with a few good holes, and a few weak ones. Hole 3 is a very good par 3, and Hole 4 is a short, but challenging par 4. Holes 9 and 18 are good holes with challenging second shots. Played during the summer heat wave and drought, so conditioning cannot be fully expected to be optimum. The greens were in pretty good condition, bunkers are also in good condition. If you live near Tervuren, this 9 hole course could be a good place for a casual round, or practice on your short game. The holes are not really challenging, but that's not the intention. While my round was during a very hot, dry time, the greens were still in good condition and had a good speed, with only isolated 'dry spots', but it was clear the club was putting water on them and doing their best. While I played during a time of hot, dry weather, I was very impressed with the condition of the greens. The grass was healthy, and the greenskeeper was still able to have them play to a good speed considering the heat. Certainly, in the Top 10 for green conditions that I've played in Belgium. If one is working in Johannesburg, this is a convenient place for a round of golf. The clubhouse is very nice and when I played, the greens were in excellent condition and very quick. Lovely club, and if you get some wind, you'll find the golf very challenging, as the course is out on a peninsula and open and unprotected from the gales. While this course has been renovated to some degree over the years, its still feels like its a course that is 100 years old. Wonderful surroundings and views, and some excellent par 5's. While some people say that Cruit Island is the greatest 9 hole hole course in the world, I'd suggest that its more of the 'greatest scenery of a 9 hole course' in the world, or maybe at least in Europe. With the addition of the St. Patricks course, Rosapenna is now an excellent destination golf trip with 3 courses to play, and more if you include the Coast Guard 9 and pitch and putt course. South course is an easy walk and conditions are good. Sand in the bunkers is well kept as well. Some holes are more interesting than others, but overall, its a nice day out, and the clubhouse is wonderful spot to enjoy a drink or a meal and watch the golfers come in.

I've played these courses many times over the years. The Copperhead provides tour level challenge, with a variety of shots needed to be played. It has an excellent routing, with holes going uphill, downhill and left and right. Angles are very important in places of ones drives. This course was in pretty good condition during a late fall round, particularly the greens. Whilst it can be a bit muddy when it, its still playable, which is a good thing. Easy to walk, and pleasant surrounding, and the restaurant food is quite good. The deer stew is highly rep'd (see photo).
