Came to Princenbosch to try out the new par 3 course and play the 9 hole B loop, that's usually quite busy. The new 6 holes designed by Alan Rijks on the par 3 course are really nice to play. This is an example of the new short courses being designed lately. The par 3 isn't a series of holes to fill up an empty piece of land next to a golf course. But it's a serious chall…

We played half March so the course just coming out of winter. We played the par 3 course first. I really liked it. The holes are situated left of the driving range and most are in the trees so the shots, depending on the pin position, can be challenging. It took about 1 hours and 15 to finish all holes due to some traffic and we planned an hour so we didn't play the las…

Geijsteren is one of the oldest courses in the area. Originally 13 holes in the woods where you had to replay 5 since 10+ years they have added the so called 'water holes' wide open holes with plenty of water. Normally the maintenance is very well but it seemed that they had a rough winter. When I played it early March the greens and area's around the green where not real…

Played the back nine in the beginning of March during the lock down. All though the 10th is probably one of the most difficult back nine starting holes in the Netherlands, due to the steep left to right slope, we managed ok. The greens however of all holes were in terrible shape.. I don't know what happened here but it looked like they had a huge amount of fungus during w…

Played de Herkenbosche in February, with decent weather. It was still pretty busy due to the lock down and people 'working' from home. The quality of the greens wasn't that great you saw the had had a lot of fungus during the winter. The quality of the tee's was very bad. I understand that you want to protect the tee's in the winter and use the same place (with no grass) …

Sco…

The Turfvaert is an open public course and one of the few courses in the lock down where you can play 18 holes as a green fee player. There was the possibility to buy coffee and snacks to go and you could also order via phone from the menu on the tee of the 9th and pick it up on your way to the back nine. Our tee time was 11:20 and when warming up on the driving range t…

Wedged in between some flats, a forrest and a residential area Biltse Duinen is like a little green oasis with an English feel to it. The original course was 5 par 3 holes and one par 4, but one of the previous owners added 3 short (±60 m.) holes to make it a nine hole par 3 course. In my opinion these 3 hort holes can better be replaced by a nice chipping green/area to m…

Played De Swinkelsche early December and had a great time. The course was still very dry compared to most courses not on sand in the rest of the country. The reception was very welcoming and friendly. We got our scorecards and went to the driving range, it's not super long and you hit your balls in a small lake. The design of the course by Frank Pont is nice to play. A …

On a Sunday morning early December I played the back nine of Hoenshuis. I must say the reception was very hospitable. All though the clubhouse was closed due to Covid regulations there was still quite a large choice of snacks and drinks to go. They even had some lake balls and gloves for sale. The clubhouse is very traditional 'carré' farm and the house where the owners g…
