Omeya GolfI was out looking at courses and hotels etc in my role as manager of a golf travel business and played in a golf day with 3 members and had a fantastic time. The tee boxes and greens were good and fairways decent enough but a bit patchy with local rules allowing for relief to the nearest good spot. The condition of the course varies with the amount of rain received and the members said at times the rough can really grow up and be very penalising whilst when I played it was easy to find errant shots and generally be able to get back in play easily enough from hard lies. The course has a lot of beautiful Camelthorn trees and good views of distant mountains and all in all was a real pleasure to play. The apres golf with the members was great fun with some well earned cold Windhoek lagers etc! A full review with videos can be seen on my website www. africagolfsafari. com.

The top golfers have their work cut out to break par, negotiating trees, natural hazards, and some flowing contours. The novice and average golfer are able to go around the course with wide playing areas, safe options on some of the more penalizing holes, and enjoy a course with great balance. In typical Peter Matkovich design philosophy, this is a course designed and shaped on-site, amongst the trees, the riverbeds and the contrasting landscape of this true Namibian gem.
