Spiegelven Golfclub

Spiegelven heeft een prachtige lay-out die nooit verveelt. Uitdagende holes in een prachtig Limburgs bos! De baan zelf recupereert van de droogte zoals zoveel banen. Sinds er nieuwe eigenaars zijn kan de baan eindelijk weer in ere hersteld worden. Tee boxen zijn een (simpel?) werkpunt, greens zijn eerlijk en zeer degelijk. Mooi hotel erbij met diverse restaurants, ideaal voor een fijn weekend ervan te maken!

A beautiful course to completely different nines, the first nine holes meanders through fabulous woodland requiring accuracy off the team, second nine is more of a parkland feel so you can open your shoulders a bit, the greens were true and reasonably quick. Can't understand why someone moans about the road noise in such beautiful surroundings ( must of been having a bad round lol), after the round sitting on the terrace overlooking the 9th & 18th holes enjoying some refreshments was great, overall from the moment we arrived everyone was so friendly top course, a must to play if your in the area

Prachtige baan. Met trekkarretjes redelijk zwaar om te lopen, dus eigen trolley of buggy is aan te raden. Fairways lagen er mooi bij, greens wisselend maar goed te doen. Voldoende uitdagingen. Bewegwijzering en bordjes met uitleg over de te spelen hole zijn zeer summier. Al met al een aanrader!!

I posted a review of Spiegelven several years ago, and then it had a couple years with some problems from the boars. I recently went back again and was pleased to see the course was in good condition (considering the early season time of year) and no signs of boar damage. There are some reviewers who are critical of Spiegelven for a variety of reasons, and they are welcome to their opinion. However, I think the course is good value for money, fun to play, and the food in the restaurant is good, and the terrace excellent for watching players on 9 and 18. The noise from the motorway really isn't that much of a bother, and all depends on the wind direction. From an architectural standpoint, the routing is very well done. You start in the trees, come out to the meadow, then go into the hillier section on the back 9 and journey back to the clubhouse. If one has an eye for course design, you note that there is great variety in the greens (shapes/slopes/hazards) and with the exception of the first few par 4's, the holes themselves offer different strategies. Of course, for Spiegelven, it all comes down to conditioning...and when the conditions are good, this is a fun, challenging place to play. The greens on the front 9 that are thin on grass would benefit from clearing some trees to bring in more light and air. I hope they'll do some of that now that the boar situation appears to be under control.

Op zich in een knappe omgeving gelegen en erg vlot bereikbaar en is tegelijkertijd de grootste kwaal. Het omgevingsgeluid van de naastgelegen snelweg is echt wel storend. Wel flink wat slaap- en eetgelegenheid ter plekke.
