The Royal Malta Golf Club

Very kind people working there, at the reception there was a cute cat named Pablo who likes to greet all players. The course looks really good and the condition is quite nice. It was fun to play. If you stay in Malta I highly recommend playing here.

Marsa Club is inside the city and very close to Airport. It is the only golf course in Malta. One thing that you realize immediately is that it is completely different than any other golf club that you have seen anywhere else. It is actually a multi sport club; tennis, golf, cricket, squash, fitness, rugby etc… The club is surrounded by city in all sides, so it has stuffed all these sports inside its land and on weekends the place is very busy. We were there with a part of our Junior National Team for Malta Junior Open 2025. I have to say everybody that I encountered at club, from Security guard at the gate to the Club Director, were very friendly and helpful. Senior club members were serving as score keepers and observers during the competition and all were very nice. Golf course is relatively short (5.400 m from Men’s tees and 4.900 from Women’s) Due to land constraint, some holes in back-9 are crossing each other and some in front 9 are very close to each other, so better play alert. Front-9 course conditions were not very good while I found the back-9 much better. In terms of layout, design and visuals, I found some holes in back 9 more interesting. Front 9 is not that interesting other than the blind Par 3 over a stone structure at Hole 6. Ok, it is not a world-class golf club and course but if you visit, you can enjoy your round and meet some good people.

Mooi aangelegde golfbaan soms is het oppassen met fairways die elkaar kruisen. Goede teeboxen, mooie groene fairways en snelle greens. Het gehuurde materiaal was van goede kwaliteit. Omdat we onze ballen niet meer mee wouden nemen op de terug weg een paar locals blij gemaakt. Vriendelijke mensen op de baan die je graag helpen.

Ik las in een beoordeling dt de prijs ongewijzigd was gebleven op 70 EUR ondanks groot onderhoud. Inmiddels is de prijs 90 EUR en daar komen dan nog parkeerkosten bij. Het is duidelijk wat het gebrek aan concurrentie doet. Dit is de baan niet waard, zelfs de 70 EUR is een twijfelgeval. De mensen zijn wel aardig, maar regeltjes en geen klantgerichtheid. Dat gemekkert te hebben, hebben we toch een leuke middag gehad. Even wennen aan vreemde clubs. De baan heeft als grootste uitdaging dat het af en toe wat smal is en de holes heel dicht tegen en over elkaar liggen. Er staan geen verkeerslichten bij de kruisingen, dat dan gelukkig nog niet. Als je echt wilt golfen op Malta, dan zeker even langs. Hoeft het niet echt, dan lekker overslaan
