Kingussie Golf Club

Wat een mooie en leuke baan, voor een vriendelijke greenfee! Vanuit Inverness naar St. Andrews kwamen we langs Kingussie en zagen dat er een golfbaan was. We zijn blij dat we zijn gestopt en 18 holes hebben gespeeld! Vriendelijke ontvangst, erg rustig en leuke holes. Op hole 1 moesten we even wachten op een hertje, die over de green liep.

Werkelijk prachtige 67 par golfbaan, goed onderhouden, spelen met zicht op besneeuwde toppen is echt genieten. Dit is golf zoals het bedoeld is. Eerlijke - mijn maatje vond het moeilijke - greens, afwisselende holes, hole 7 een par 3 met een leuke blinde slag. De baan is prima te lopen. Voor hoge en lage handicappers te doen. Ontvangst was wat stug. Wij hebben ons ook niet kunnen douchen en omkleden helaas. Restaurant was niet open. Wel genoten van terras met prachtig uitzicht.

With par 67 this is not a common golf course. But in the time Kingussie was laid out, the courses were made according to what the land had to offer, not shaped by golfdesigners forcing par 72 on a bare stretch of land. To me, that’s the charm of old courses, of which there are many in Scotland. Great greens, not easy to play – some quite narrow holes. Hospitality of caddymaster was perfect, both on the telephone and while checking in. But it is very strange that we, as visitors, were not invited to make use of the ladies and gentlemen dressing rooms to get changed. Instead, we had to use a visitors room, with no privacy. Hence a lower score on hospitality.

Course is located above the small town of same name. Nice small clubhouse. Well maintained, playable course with wide fairways. Middle part of the course is quite hilly but easy to walk. The style of the course is parkland with heather on back nine. Holes vary from dog legs to long par 5 and 4, with par 3 over the river and road. Very interesting layout and fun to play. I had the course just for myself nobody else were playing and for 30 pounds sunset fee it was pure joy.

De esos sitios que puedes jugar vueltas en menos de 3 horas como a sido mi caso hoy.

Te vas a encontrar con 6 pares 3. La mitad juegan largo y la otra mitad juegan corto. Uno de ellos con golpe ciego.

Campo ondulado pero no en exceso, se puede caminar perfectamente.

Para mi los mejores hoyos son 9 y sobretodo el 11 (recomiendo jugarlo de blancas por la salida en alto) que es una maravilla de hoyo tipo heathland.

El resto del campo seria tipo parkland.

Mantenimiento muy correcto con las calles cortadas a dos colores por su eje central.

Algunas salidas en alto ofrecen preciosas vistas, al igual que desde los hoyos 5 y 6 donde tienes una gran panorámica de la campiña cercana que forma parte del Parque Natural de los Cairngorms.

Bonita casa club de arquitectura clásica de la zona.

Una gran opción si quieres jugar campos fuera del circuito principal mas comercial.
