Corfu Golf Club

Corfu Golf Club is the one and only course on this stunning Greek island. A short drive from the airport and set in the heart of the island it is perfectly positioned to host visitors across the island. Playing in late September was a perfect time, much cooler temperatures than the beaming summer sun and even a bit of morning mist to add a bit of mystique to the course. Having seen the reviews of the course I was unsure whether or not to go to the effort of playing the course but I was pleasantly surprised. It is clear that the course has struggled in recent times and needs some investment but still provides a very good offering in the condition it is in. The last few holes actually showed signs of turning into a very well looked after course. Upon arrival I was greeted by the very friendly Assistant Golf Manager, Bia, and provided with a very nice set of rental clubs before heading down to the range. A grass range with stunning views of the surrounding valley. Views which are there throughout the round. The course itself is flat, there is not much in the way of undulations and relies on the water hazards and tree lined fairways to provide some difficulty. I really like the way it is set out in that the first 9 was a bit wider, more open, more opportunity to miss and then slowly starts to tighten as you head toward the back 9 with more tree trouble and more thought and strategy required on each shot. Whilst the course isn’t in the best condition at the moment it is certainly showing signs that it will get better and it has everything to be a really great destination on the island. I would certainly recommend stopping by if you’re visiting Corfu and keen on a round and for €60-70 a round it really isn’t bad value!

Het geheel was minder slecht dan verwacht, gezien de recensies. Het terrein is golvend, wat een aparte ervaring geeft. De fairways waren niet geweldig, maar de greens daarentegen waren prima. Gewoon leuk om op vakantie een balletje te slaan. Ben je in de buurt, gewoon doen.

As I am sure people have said before it is the only course on the island so of course they have a captive audience. As corfu is mainly a tourist trap not a lot of money needs to be invested to bring up to scratch.

On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome from the staff and had a great choice of hire clubs.

The course itself wasn’t in the best condition and some fairways were a bit below par (not a pun).

The course is always going to suffer from the climate and some holes which would have been attractive were decimated by weather.

All in all if you are on the island and desperate to play golf then go for it other than that stay on the beach.

The staff were fantastic though.

Voor het eerst en zeker voor het laatst op deze golfbaan gespeeld. We betaalden 65€ voor een rondje van 18 holes.

De complete accommodatie en golfbaan oogt achterhaald. De baan vergt beter onderhoud. Op enkele holes ontbreken de informatie borden. Op de meeste holes waar fairway bunkers waren, zijn deze verworden tot onderdeel van de fairway, dichtgegroeid met gras. TEE boxen zijn ook matig onderhouden. De greens mag je geen greens meer noemen. Er is bijna geen green hetzelfde qua bespeelbaarheid. De een is alleen maar zand, de ander totaal kaal met hier en daar een grasspriet.

Being the only course on the island I guess it’s also the best. However, do not expect lush greens, well maintained fairways or the bar to be open after about 6pm! A hack around while you’re on your holiday would be absolutely fine and, to be fair, I imagine it’s difficult maintaining a course in blistering summer conditions in this part of the world..
