Marielyst Golf Klub

Nice golfcourse in which you really have to use course management. Relative small fairways and waterhazards at critical points. Lots of holes have a different character. Very easy to make a reservation for a tee time and very friendly and helpful staff. Maybe not a golfcourse with big reputation (yet), but absolutely worthwhile playing in the southern part of Denmark

Banen er Danmarks sydligste bane og meget charmerende.

Greens, fairway og teateret er velholdt men ikke noget specielt. Bare en rigtig behagelig tur rundt.

Besides being the southernmost golf course in Denmark, there’s nothing really special about Marielyst Golfklub or the facilities. But for some reason it is one my favorite guilty pleasures when it comes to Danish golf courses, and I can’t really explain why.

The course isn’t overly long, but especially the front nine is very tight, and keeping the ball in play is a premium over length. The back nine opens up a bit, and more opportunities to pull out the driver present itself.

The course is located among pine trees and is played on rather sandy - almost heather-like - soil, which is quite different from most other courses in this part of the country.

Again, I can’t really explain why I enjoy this course so much, but there’s plenty of variety both in length and layout, and I always enjoy the challenge of keeping my patience and plotting my way around most of the holes.

I recommend this course as a hidden gem. Don’t come in expecting too much, but if manage your expectations and take the course for what it is, you’ll have Great time.

This review is part of my travel blog from our vacation. Marielyst Golf was our ninth golf stop on our roadtip. We adjusted a bit our itinerary and found slot to play golf before departure to Germany. I jump into reception and checking, there were very nice lady who offered to wash my back after the game what I have to gladly reject ;) since I'm out of market already ;) We choose this course again thanks to Golfhaftet card acceptance and location. As already said green north of Germany are perfect. Design and layout nothing special, flat, not many interesting shots, we did not enjoy it much. I assume this is more vacation course for German retirement people, however its still good to play golf than be in the office. Best were the greens there, rest was just so so. We did not have time to go restaurant after game and I'm not even sure it was still open. We finish, took a shower, which by the way was probably the worst one out of the visited clubs, but clean, no towels there so we took our owns. and we are off to Germany to play WINSTON golf, what I was looking forward to. Anyway thanks for hospitality and offer ;).
