Lindrick Golf Club

A hybrid course of heath, moorland and parkland which was very enjoyable to play and very well maintained when we visited. The fairways were like carpets, a credit to the club’s management as it is not overplayed. Opening hole is right beside the pro shop and this is an indication of the sage transition around the course except for the necessary tunnels to get under the roadway. Beautifully secluded at times so you soon find your group detached from the field, all alone it appears until you see the 18th a very good par three inviting you back to the fine clubhouse. The index one hole #13 is difficult yet so inviting and very pleasing to the eye. The Club has lots of history and well worth a visit where Vulcan (the god of fire) is their symbol. It should climb up a bit from #64 in UK after Architects Mackenzie & Ebert have had an input to embellish the work of the great Architects that came before them.

One of the more esteemed courses in the Midlands and a price tag to match, Lindrick is ranked in the top 100 courses in the UK. Very nicely designed course with many holes that are independent to each other.

I played here towards the end of May and what had been quite a wet month but the course was in very good condition, the fairways were hard and you got quite a lot of run on your tee shots and the greens were very fast and found quite tough to read. Having said that the bunkers were rock hard, had a very thin layer of sand.

Some very cool holes throughout the course,4 is a par 5 with a dog leg to the right, a good drive and long iron and you can get to the green, there’s a sharp drop to the green. The 5th is a blind drive up a hill to the fairway. The 13th is a downhill dog leg left where you can bomb a long drive and the 18th is a lovely par 3 with the clubhouse as the backdrop. Tip here is to hit short of the greens as many fairways run down to them and the greens are quite firm so your ball tends to run on through.

The quality of the course was good but wouldn’t say the fairways were in amazing condition and felt it was quite steep for £125

Lindrick has an old traditional clubhouse and really good facilities with a wide driving range, big putting green and practice chipping area with bunkers to practice in as well. Must say the members were all very friendly and invited us for a drink after the round.

The main advantage that Lindrick has over the majority of other venues in this part of the world is the exceptionally firm and fast ground conditions that it boasts. It was brilliant to see so much roll on the ball in the early season and I suspect that the members enjoy good quality golf for 12 months of the year on this lovely parcel of heath and moorland turf that stretches out across Lindrick Common.

Mooie klassieke oude baan doorheen bos en park. Knappe holes en prachtige bunkerplaatsing. Het strokesaverboekje leert dat een aantal bunkers verwijderd zijn wat te betreuren valt. Er wordt overal gorse (gaspeldoorn) bijgeplant wat ik dan weer goed vind.

Greens zijn perfect en supersnel met heel subtiele lijnen.

Een aanrader voor wie van klassieke golf houdt.
