Five Forts Golf Club (fka St. George's Golf Club)

Five Forts Golf Club formerly known as St. George's Golf Club was owned and operated by the Bermuda Government and it was closed down in 2008. The golf course was closed down for several years when the entire property was given out for redevelopment to the Marriott group who opened the St. Regis luxury resort in May 2021 and restored the golf course to its old glory and gave new life to this historic landmark.

The course has been renamed after the rich heritage of St. George's (former capital of Bermuda) to Five Forts Golf Club because it is surrounded by five historic forts, including fort St. Catherine, the largest, most celebrated and most visited fort in Bermuda.

Originally the course dates back all the way to 1928 when it was designed by Alfred H. Tull and Devereux Emmet. The course was redesigned in 1985 by legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr. and it was the last golf course he designed before his retirement. As it was my first time playing here I am not sure if there were some major changes being made to the layout or the course was just being reseeded...

Five Forts is an 18 hole golf course but it is a Par 62 so it is a rather short course measuring only about 4000 meters,4436 yards to be exact. You will tee off near Fort Victoria and despite some long distances between the holes you will enjoy beautiful ocean views as you make your way through the course. The round ends with breathtaking ocean views from the 18th hole and fort St. Catherine in the back which is just a few steps from the green and St. Regis Bermuda resort.

There are no Par-5's, only ten Par-3's and eight Par-4's so the round should not take too long. The shortest hole measures only 95 meters (104 yards) while the longest hole is about 350 meters long (392 yards). My favorite holes are the Par-3 9th and 10th, Par-4 16th and Par-3 18th.

Pro-shop is well stocked. The golf course was in very good playing condition however the price tag is way too steep and I think Bermuda offers better courses for less money.
