Canterbury Golf Club

Nice old Harry Colt design. There are some really fun holes here, and the routing is very good considering the hilly terrain. Friendly staff, and walkable. A great set of par 3's.

Opnieuw een golfbaan gespeeld in District Kent. Voldoende, ruime parking en een mooie driving range (met Tracktracer). Clubhuis, proshop en kledingruimte zijn een beetje in oude Engelse, gedateerde stijl. Deze golfbaan ontworpen door Harry Colt dateert van 1927 en is de nummer 12 in district Kent (greenfee van 60 Pond). De baan is goed onderhouden met snelle greens en vrij heuvelachtig. De rough is wel erg rough, daardoor toch enkele ballen niet terug gevonden. De semi-rough is wel speelbaar. Mooie heuvelachtige, stille parkbaan.

We hebben deze baan gespeeld in combinatie met bezoek aan de stad Canterbury (oud stadsgedeelte met Kathedraal) en dit was een zeer geslaagde combinatie. De golfbaan is een 10 minuutjes rijden van het stadscentrum.

Good Harry Colt course, minutes from Canterbury Town centre. Lovely woodland and not busy on a Sunday afternoon made for a pleasant round on very uneven terrain. The course has suffered rather badly from the hot, dry summer, but less than some other courses we have played in the area this week. The many doglegs, the elevation changes and the sloping fairways require a considered approach, and smashing driver is not always the right choice - even if sone holes are temptingly wide. While not excessively long, it is a physically challenging walk (distance between some holes, steep climbs and descents). On the other hand, we found the course slightly easier than its sloping rate would suggest. No towels in the changing rooms and clubhouse bar closed as we finished our round at 7.30 were the only negatives.

Wat een geweldige golfbaan. Deze baan heeft alles wat je van een Engelse baan mag verwachten. Gastvrije ontvangst, een werkelijke prachtige 18 holes baan en uitmuntend onderhoud. Mooie harde greens die erg snel snel.

De baan is behoorlijk heuvelachtig zoals alle banen in de omgeving. Je loopt aardig wat hoogtemeters. Maar elke hole is prachtig.

Het clubhuis is echt Engels, beetje pluche en een goede bar.
