Over The Royal Malta Golf Club
The Royal Malta Golf Club is the ideal setting for relaxing, working on your handicap, or spending time with friends. Positioned in beautifully maintained grounds and being centrally located in the Mediterranean it enjoys a wonderful climate providing excellent golfing conditions. The RMGC was founded in 1888 when golf was played around the moats and bastions formed by the fortification walls of the Capitol City Valletta. It moved to its present location in 1904, and is now situated in the grounds of the Marsa Sports Club and boasts of being one of only 63 Royal Golf Clubs. Due to the temperate climate the18 hole, par 68 course is in excellent condition for all twelve months of the year and is enjoyed on a regular daily basis by locals and visitors. The visitors often return when inclement weather conditions in their own country prevent the opportunity to play. Although only a par 68 it is a challenging course for the experienced player but not over daunting to the novice. As with all golf clubs there are rules relating to dress code and course etiquette and these can be found on the club website. If you just wish just to spend a short time practicing your skills you can make use of the clubs driving range and the pitching and putting areas. The very modern clubhouse which is available to members and guests offers exceptional facilities, including an outdoor terrace overlooking the course, the Putters Inn Bar and Restaurant and in addition golfers have the use of excellent changing room facilities and showers. The Pro shop located in the entrance hall offers a wide range of golfing merchandise and the opportunity to hire clubs and trolleys if required.

Malta Golf CourseVery kind people working there, at the reception there was a cute cat named Pablo who likes to greet all players. The course looks really good and the condition is quite nice. It was fun to play. If you stay in Malta I highly recommend playing here.

Malta Golf CourseMarsa Club is inside the city and very close to Airport. It is the only golf course in Malta. One thing that you realize immediately is that it is completely different than any other golf club that you have seen anywhere else. It is actually a multi sport club; tennis, golf, cricket, squash, fitness, rugby etc… The club is surrounded by city in all sides, so it has stuffed all these sports inside its land and on weekends the place is very busy. We were there with a part of our Junior National Team for Malta Junior Open 2025. I have to say everybody that I encountered at club, from Security guard at the gate to the Club Director, were very friendly and helpful. Senior club members were serving as score keepers and observers during the competition and all were very nice. Golf course is relatively short (5.400 m from Men’s tees and 4.900 from Women’s) Due to land constraint, some holes in back-9 are crossing each other and some in front 9 are very close to each other, so better play alert. Front-9 course conditions were not very good while I found the back-9 much better. In terms of layout, design and visuals, I found some holes in back 9 more interesting. Front 9 is not that interesting other than the blind Par 3 over a stone structure at Hole 6. Ok, it is not a world-class golf club and course but if you visit, you can enjoy your round and meet some good people.

Malta Golf CourseMooi aangelegde golfbaan soms is het oppassen met fairways die elkaar kruisen. Goede teeboxen, mooie groene fairways en snelle greens. Het gehuurde materiaal was van goede kwaliteit. Omdat we onze ballen niet meer mee wouden nemen op de terug weg een paar locals blij gemaakt. Vriendelijke mensen op de baan die je graag helpen.

Malta Golf CourseIk las in een beoordeling dt de prijs ongewijzigd was gebleven op 70 EUR ondanks groot onderhoud. Inmiddels is de prijs 90 EUR en daar komen dan nog parkeerkosten bij. Het is duidelijk wat het gebrek aan concurrentie doet. Dit is de baan niet waard, zelfs de 70 EUR is een twijfelgeval. De mensen zijn wel aardig, maar regeltjes en geen klantgerichtheid. Dat gemekkert te hebben, hebben we toch een leuke middag gehad. Even wennen aan vreemde clubs. De baan heeft als grootste uitdaging dat het af en toe wat smal is en de holes heel dicht tegen en over elkaar liggen. Er staan geen verkeerslichten bij de kruisingen, dat dan gelukkig nog niet. Als je echt wilt golfen op Malta, dan zeker even langs. Hoeft het niet echt, dan lekker overslaan

18 holesThe course provides an ideal setting for playing golf with friends, working on your handicap or just relaxing in the beautifully maintained grounds – a quiet and green oasis in the heart of the island. The club applies a few basic rules related to dress code and course etiquette, which must be observed at all times. PGA qualified teaching is always on call for those who wish to learn or improve their game. The course offers 18 holes of golf in stunning, historical, landscaped grounds, which are maintained daily. Today at par 68, the course is a good challenge for the more experienced, without being unkind to the novice. The apparent simplicity of the course is deceptive as it is narrow demanding accuracy off the tee and controlled approach shots as the greens are small and well bunkered. Depending on the season, there is not much water on the course but a few strategically placed water hazards lie in wait.
