Golf Río Real

We really enjoyed the stay at the historic hotel and playing the golf course which is beautiful with somewhat challenging greens.

Rio Real was one of those rounds we slotted in without expecting too much and it turned out to be a really pleasant surprise. It’s a shorter course compared to others in the area, but that’s actually part of the charm. You don’t need to overpower it, it’s more about placement and keeping the ball in play. There are a few tighter holes where you need to shape shots a bit, which keeps things interesting. The routing flows nicely, especially as you get closer to the coast. A couple of holes stand out more for the setting than the difficulty, but overall it’s an enjoyable walk and never feels repetitive. Condition was decent, greens rolled well enough and the course was in good shape overall, even if not at the very top level in the area. It’s the kind of place that works really well as part of a golf trip. Not too demanding, easy to enjoy, and a good contrast if you’ve been playing tougher courses. Finished with a drink by the clubhouse which has a nice relaxed feel to it. Overall, a solid and enjoyable round. Maybe not the most spectacular course you’ll play, but definitely one you’re happy to have played.

I played Golf Río Real in October and really liked the feel of the place. The course has a classic layout with lots of trees, gentle slopes and a few beautiful views toward the sea. It’s not overly demanding, but you do need to be accurate on some of the tighter holes. Conditions were good and the whole round felt calm and enjoyable. A very solid course that left me with a great impression.

Sista dagen efter spel på 4 banor under lika många dagar. Detta var bästa banan/upplevelsen. Mycket trevligt klubhus, rätt så platt parkbana där man hela tiden visste man skulle slå. Några riktigt kluriga lång/smala par 3 men helhetsintrycket från oss samtliga i sällskapet på 12 personer var kanon! Rekommenderas varmt.

Jugar aquí siempre es un gusto. Es un campo con mucha historia y se nota desde el primer hoyo: diseño elegante, condiciones de mantenimiento excelentes y un ambiente tranquilo, muy bien cuidado todo. Los greenes estaban rápidos pero justos, y las calles en un estado impecable. A nivel de recorrido, quizá no es el más largo, pero te obliga a pensar y colocar bien cada golpe. Mi única queja, y por desgracia no es la primera vez que me pasa: el kiosko del hoyo 10 estaba cerrado de nuevo. Con el calor que hace y siendo un recorrido que se disfruta a pie, se agradece muchísimo un punto de avituallamiento en ese tramo. Y si no va a estar operativo, lo mínimo sería tener un buggy bar dando vueltas y tomando pedidos, porque tener que interrumpir la ronda y subir al restaurante 15 minutos no tiene sentido. Dicho eso, sigue siendo uno de mis campos favoritos en Marbella por su esencia, su calidad y el trato del personal. Pero ojalá le den una vuelta al tema del servicio en campo, porque es lo único que empaña una experiencia por lo demás impecable.
