Durban country club Beachwood course is mostly used by members. However it is nice to see the location and play it. It is close to Durban Virginia airport and to the Indian Ocean. The course is upgraded over the years and it is not an easy course with wind blowing from the Indian ocean, temperature in the Durban area. The course is quite undulated fairways, nice greens and lots of trees around the fairway. So enjoy your round it worth it. The reception and restaurant facilities are very nice and love to speak to the staff. Enjoy your round and it will not be simple the first time playing it.

It's a real shame to see the course in the state it is in now, don't get me wrong it's still okay it's just not the manicured, immaculate course it used to be.
You can noticeably see the troubles it's gone throughwith the recent flooding in Durban and there's a fair number of people working on the course, just hope it can get back to the beautiful course it used to be because the holes are really interesting and diverse, the scenery is great and it's right near the coast.
Played on this day in constant rain so the pics don't really do the course justice.

I grew up playing on this course and sadly not in as good condition as it used to be in. It was formerly the second course of Durban Country Club but after years of financial struggles they sold it to new owners who are trying to get it back to the level it used to be. Speaking to friends and family when we went back to South Africa they said it wasn’t in great condition but when we played it wasn’t all that bad. The greens were in good condition and the fairways dry as usual but that’s Durban in the summer for you. It’s a lengthy course and can also be quite narrow on most holes so you have to be fairly accurate. It’s built on old marshland so has some pretty cool holes hitting through or over the marsh towards fairways/greens.
For what we paid R200, not much over 10 euros, it’s a bargain really. It might not be world class but it’s still a really interesting, challenging course that’ll test your stamina in the sweltering Durban heat. Wouldn’t recommend playing in the middle of the day in summer when we played, that required a few thirst quenchers to keep us going!

Greens are very fluffy and slow, course is dry otherwise course layout is great and is very nice to play at, gives a good golfer a bit of a challenge.

An interesting aspect of the course is that it lies at the southern end of Virginia Airport - mainly for small commercial aircraft, private flights, training flights and helicopters - adding an element of excitement to see these small aircraft take off and land directly overhead.
