End of October very dry - but that‘s normal. Greens okay.

But: our caddy stole 1000 Rand and 100 Euros while we were putting. We only realized that next morning (without having spent anything during meantime)

Therefore: Don‘t Play with Caddy!

I played the back 9 on Christmas Eve and, though the clubhouse was locked, I thoroughly enjoyed the mostly wide fairways and well watered greens of this course. As ought to be expected of a golf course in a mostly desert country, there is a good amount of bare earth on this course, which can add a bit to your distance! In addition to the excess sand of the course, there were some pretty fiendish bunkers, with concrete, hard-packed sand that required judicious use of the putter to extricate oneself.

The course is reasonably well marked in terms of tee boxes, but the distance markers were a bit confusing - I think the white and red blocks were to mark 150 & 100 yards respectively, but I had played the 1st 5 holes as if they were 100 & 50 yards respectively (it was early morning and I hadn’t woken up properly!). Mongoose and birdlife abounded but the major surprise were the ants. I have never seen so many in my life, with every square inch of the course crawling with them!

The timid golfer can be put off by the deafening roar of butterfly wings in the field next door (PG Wodehouse), but the Windhoek golfer requires nerves of steel as aircraft take off and land on the airstrip that lies in the center of the course.

The cheery chappy in the bar tried to hike the price of the round, which was generous of him, but seasonal spirit won through and he relinquished at a sensible price eventually.

My kliente ervaring van u klub en die fasiliteite was gemiddeld tot goed, maar kan ongelukkig nie dieselfde van die proshop sê nie.

Opsomming van my ervaring...

1. Geen verwelkoming van enige aard nie

2. Geen aanbod om van hulp te wees nie

3. Pro laat voel jou of hy jou 'n guns doen om hoegenaamd met jou te praat en as hy praat laat hy jou dom voel!

4. Stal toerusting / voorraad uit 'wat nie te koop is nie'. Was moeilik om onderskei tussen wat te koop aangebied word en wat nie.

5. Plek is slordig, deurmekaar en vuil

Ek verseker u dat ek nie 'n tipiese ou golf kermgat is nie, maar dat daar 'n fout by u proshop is is 'n feit.

We were luck to get to play this course as our trip to Namibia was cut short when added to the UK red list at short notice.

There is a lot of the fairways that are just dry earth which is to be expected in a hot arid country but they didn't affect play very much unless your shots were wayward. Because it is so dry and the ground hard, expect to make longer drives and fairway shots and play short of the greens to allow for the run where bunker placements allow.

A lack of signs mean it is not easy to always know where the next tee is and be prepared for light aircract an helicopter noise at any moment.
