West Bank Golf Club

Het uitzicht was het mooiste van de golfbaan.

West Bank GC is a very old members club and celebrated its 100 years centenary in 2007. The links course is located close to the Indian ocean and sometimes you can see from the tee dolphins jumping up and down. The reception and other staff are helpful and assist visitors as required. The course approx. 5800m a par 71 is not that long but if not used to kikuyu grass and links circumstances a challenge to play. During your round you have views on the ocean and sometimes, depending of the weather mist rolls comes in from the ocean.

Maintenance of the course is good and because it is a member course donot be surprised when by yourself that you can join another flight. Facilities are all available, proshop, clubs, trolley renting etc. Greenfee rand 150 (9 euro) could not be a problem to play a nice course. The bar iss also open after your round to enjoy the views and drinks.

Der einzige Platz auf dem man Delfine beobachten kann um einen kleinen Friedhof spielt, einen Leuchtturm sieht. Ich hatte viel Spaß. Der Platz ist gut gepflegt.

125 rand. Dat is omgerekend nauwelijks 10 euro. Dat is de greenfee die je af moet rekenen voor deze ruim honderd jaar oude links aan de Indische Oceaan. De baan is niet lang maar de wind speelt vanzelfsprekend zo'n grote rol dat korte holes lang worden en vice versa. De fairways zijn lekker schraal de grens klein en keihard. Blinde schoten ballen die stuiterend hun weg vinden naar de green - en vaak erover - en altijd die oceaan. Op de eerste negen kom je misschien tot maar dertig meter dan de beukende golfen en op de back nine speel je slechts een paar holes een beetje het binnenland in maar ook daar waait het stevig. De par-3 17e is misschien wel de spectaculairste hole. De green lijkt aan alle kanten omgeven door Oceaan. Je blijft foto's maken!
