Piešťany Golf Club

Very nice 9 hole park golf course. Clubhouse is an amazing state villa with sauna, jacuzzi and accommodation

A 9-hole park course on the edge of the spa island in the famous Piešťany spa. Golf is said to have been played here more than 100 years ago, but the current course was built about 20 years ago. It has a relatively simple layout, is fairly short with a minimum of hazards, but its park-like character makes it quite interesting. The practice areas are quite small, and the complex includes a clubhouse with a restaurant and accommodation. The resort operated quite well for a long time, but is currently in trouble. The manager had to quit, the course is operating in a provisional mode, maintenance has been insufficient this year, and the quality of the areas has deteriorated. Footgolf is also available here, but it is not a good combination on a small course. I believe that things will improve – this place has its own "genius loci," which would be a shame to lose.

Op de terugweg vanuit centraal Slowakije naar Bratislava hebben we een bezoek gebracht aan de Piešťany Spa Golf Club. Midden in het stadje met deze curieuze naam is een rijk voorzien Spa-eiland gevestigd. Dit nog steeds druk bezochte gezondheidscentrum van oude chique kent, als een van de diverse ontspanningsmogelijkheden, een 9 holes golfbaan. Door het barre weer ten tijde van ons bezoek hebben we de baan niet bespeeld. Van achter de ruitenwissers was te zien dat dit een klassieke parklandbaan is met statige oude bomen langs de fairways. Over 9 holes telt de baan in par 33 slagen met 4 par 3- en een par 5-hole. Kenners vertelden ons dat het een prettige niet al te lastige baan is: Leuk maar voor de doorgewinterde golfer niet echt een omweg waard.

Spa Golf Klub Piestany is een compact 9 holes parcours in het noordelijk deel van het grotendeels autovrije Spa Island waarop u tevens een gigantisch thermaaloord vindt en zeker zeven 3-4 sterrenhotels. Leuk baantje om het korte spel te oefenen. Het restaurant is zonder meer goed
